Day 1493 – New Year Cards

August 1st, 2013 No comments

I was asked by to create a range of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) cards for the Matan Organization this year.  Such an honor as they always have the most beautiful cards available and the proceeds go towards a really great organization.  This year they picked my cards (a selection of 4) as part of their annual fund raiser.  So if you want to send  a “sweet” message this year to family & friends follow the link to the Matan Holiday Cards and help support a very worthy cause.

To learn more about Matan, visit their website at www.matankids.org .  According to Matan “Our goal is to provide a space for open conversation and concrete ideas about Jewish special education.  Individually, we are Jewish educators, special educators, community leaders, Rabbis, teachers and parents.  One by one, we are searching for the very best for our schools, our students, our congregants and our own children.  Collectively, we are a community of people who care deeply about Jewish children with special needs; who are ready to seek answers, express frustrations, share ideas and cull the finest of what this emerging field has to offer.  At Matan, we believe that the voice of the “collective” is far louder than the voice of any individual organization or person.  We hope you will check back often, and that your voice will be part of the conversation.”

You can order Rosh Hashanah cards directly from the Matan Site, by following this link:  Matan Holiday Cards

Day 387 – Wow!

July 22nd, 2010 No comments

What an amazing day!  First my blog gets nominated as one of the TOP 10 blogs in DC.  Then we have a crazy day of voting (and I do want to thank all of you who logged on to vote) and lo and behold, some smart ass has to mess with the votes and get themselves and their blog  eliminated.

The great thing is “The Doodle Daily” is still in the running, so now you all have to go out and vote once again.  You have until 12:01 am on Friday morning to vote.  So log on to WTOP, select “The doodle Daily” in the box that says “today’s poll” and vote, vote, vote.  We can win this.

We know that everybody has doodled at sometime or other, be it in a meeting, on the phone, on a napkin or magazine cover.  So you can all relate.  The Doodle is as much an art form as anything and Art is so prevalent in DC.  We fit DC to a tee.

So go out and vote.  Once again here is the link to cast your vote.

Today’s doodle pics up where we left off yesterday, with our new section on re-facing.  This one is one of my favorites.  The shape of the back was so perfect to draw on, like a permanent tattoo and she has a message to add as well.  So this one is for a Great Cause as well.

Here’s today’s refaced doodle for Day 387.  NOW GO VOTE!

Day 122 – Hot Gossip

October 29th, 2009 No comments

The celebs have been missing for a while.  They have been scarce since we did the Kane Show.  As part of our Mash up week, we had to include a couple of celeb doodles and who better then the King of Celeb gossip Perez Hilton and her TLC royal highness Kate (the hair alone is a doodle waiting to happen)

Perez, if you see this, you have a face just waiting to be doodled.  I just happened to pick the Blue hair (cause I have a blue sharpie).  It is a such fun pic to doodle (but somehow I always struggle with the teeth)  Kane said I gave him “teen wolf”  teeth….. well I didn’t fair any better with Perez…. Oh what the hell, he will take out his highlighter and draw an arrow directly to them.   I think anyone who sees this post needs to write Perez at: perez@PerezHilton.com and let him know that he needs to check this out.

and as always the image inspiration for this doodle was:

As I said earlier Kate Gosselin has a hairstyle that just screams out “DOODLE ME”  (even though she has since changed her looks) I just took this one and ran with it.

Day 104 – Do your part!

October 11th, 2009 1 comment

Today is our final “pink” support tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness month and the “Bras Across DC” campaign.  I never did get an actual Bra from the folk at Hot 99.5 to doodle on so instead I put pen to paper and doodled one for you.

This weekend is also the Breast Cancer 3-day walk and to all those taking part.  You are to be admired.  This is a very good cause.

Here’s our doodled bra for you.

Day 103 – Susan G. Komen

October 10th, 2009 1 comment

Continuing with our Awareness week, there is no bigger name in the Fight for the cure than the Susan G, Komen foundation and I dedicate today’s doodle to their cause.  From the Susan G. Komen website, here’s a little of Susan’s story and a link to their site, where you can log on and donate.

october

From the Susan G. Komen website:

Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

Day 102 – Bras Across DC

October 9th, 2009 2 comments

Our Friends on the Kane Show at Hot 99.5 are collecting Bras for their “Bras Across DC” campaign, to raise awareness in the battle against breast cancer, that is taking place on Oct 30th.  They plan to string bras around the reflecting pool down on the National Mall.  There goal is to collect 1600 bras (they are also accepting donations) I contacted them, earlier in the week, about getting me one of the donated bras and I would doodle on it. (Hey, if I can doodle on an egg, a leaf, a banana, I can surely take on a brassiere).  I am still waiting to hear back from them.  So look out next week we may have a doodled bra as part of the doodled objects collection.

In the meantime I thought I would give their campaign a “doodle daily” plug.  It’s a very good cause and if you have a bra you wish to get rid of, then check out this link with details on where you can drop them off.

DC Bras

So today’s pink doodle is in honor of Hot 99.5’s Bras across DC and the good guys at the Kane show.  You know them from their Celebrity doodles

Kane, Sarah, Samy & Erick (who still needs his own personal doodle), here’s a doodle tribute to your cause.  next week I want to see a Bra on here.

Day 100 – 100 days, 100 doodles

October 7th, 2009 2 comments

We have hit Day 100, not bad for the little blog that could.  100 days, 100 doodles.  For this major milestone, I wanted to do something to give back and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, I have decided to break from the circles and go pink for a week.  I would also love to take the time to recognize the many causes out there that donate and support Breast Cancer Awareness.  So if you know of any, leave a comment, send me mail (via the contact on the side) and I will give them a shout out on the blog.

I have contacted the good folk at the Kane Show on Hot 99.5, who are running a campaign right now called “Bras Across DC”,  You will be hearing more about that as the week progresses.  I am hoping I can do something on the blog that ties into their effort so we continue to raise as much awareness as possible.  Throw in a little doodle humor in support of a good cause.

I know that something good will come out of this.

So thanks to all of you for stopping by day after day to get your “doodle fix”.  Keep coming back and here’s to the next 100 days…..
