Day 812 – Crash Avoided!

September 20th, 2011 2 comments

Yesterday my site was down for several hours and from what I am being told there are robots “bots” out there that were basically giving my site a tough time and my hosting company went and brought the site down…. Ouch! with no warning at all.  I have since made some tweaks that have hopefully rectified the situation….. So for those who tried to access the doodles during the time I was down, I do apologize.

Regardless, we are back and here is day 812’s doodle:

Crash no more!

Day 811 – The Tea Room

September 19th, 2011 1 comment

Spent the afternoon on Saturday relaxing in what is known at the Nemacolin Château as “The Tea Room”.  It was so nice having nothing to do but sit back with a hot drink in a sunlit room and draw.  Two bridal parties swept by and I didn’t even notice.  I was engrossed and completely uninterrupted.  It was a cool Fall like day, so they had a fire going.  Sometimes that is just what you need.  No TV, no kids nagging, no need to be in the car, just me and my pen.  I could go on and on, but instead I’ll share with you the pieces I worked on.  You should try it sometime.

We took ourselves off to a Spa this weekend for a night away.  Very much needed and very well deserved.  Always nice to relax, chill and not worry about day to day chores.  So in order to get back to relaxing, here’s Sunday’s Doodle:

Noah Scalin who originally inspired me to start the Doodle Daily as a “365 – Make something every day….” project and then went on to mention me in his second book, decided to do a follow up on where the project is now.  His interview came out yesterday and he posted it on his site

As always Noah did a great job and has helped promote many creative projects.

You should check out Noah’s book:

Day 805 – Photo Doodles

September 13th, 2011 1 comment

This past weekend my good friend and partner in Tjomies Vintage Stationery and Picture Pockets stopped by to photograph some of my work.  This is in an effort to get my work listed on sites like Etsy so that I can start sharing my work with others.  I have framed several pieces and very soon they will be going up for sale.  I am quite excited to be able to find homes for some of these most special pieces.

So before they go up for sale, here is a first glimpse and Lisa, who takes the most amazing pictures, did an amazing job with these.  Lisa has been shooting vintage pieces for her own online business “Accessories of old” Take a moment to checkout her amazing gems.

In the meantime here are “Doodle on Display”

For more pictures from this session

until they become available for sale

Day 804 – Moving Forward

September 12th, 2011 No comments

I never expected to be as emotionally impacted by watching the footage of the 1oth anniversary of 9/11,  but having lived it 10 years ago, it was even more shocking re-hashing it all yesterday.  It is important that we never forget.  Watching it unfold in 2001 was just so unbelievable, as there was so much uncertainty as to what was going on at first.  Who could imagine that anyone would do what they did.  Now all these years later, we know how that day unfolded and hearing stories of those who survived and that those poor people on the planes knew they were going to die is just so  spine chilling.  All I can say us that we must always remember and always be strong.  We will overcome.

So I call this doodle –  “Moving Forward”

It’s dedicated to what lies ahead.

Embrace each other - and Move Forward

Day 803 – Remembering 9/11

September 11th, 2011 No comments

It’s 10 years today since the 9/11 attacks occurred and like many of you, I have vivid memories of the day.  It is one we will never forget.  The irony was that it was such a beautiful day.  I wanted to do a tribute to the towers that fell, but the day is more than just the collapse of the towers. On that day, lives changed forever.  Our society as a whole changed forever and for that reason we must never forget.

10 years is a long time, but yet it seems like yesterday that this tragedy occurred.  So rather than dwell on what happened that day, because we all know that so well…. I wanted today’s 9/11 doodle to be a tribute to what lies ahead and act as a “ray of hope” for those that were left behind.  This is for those who lost a loved one.  We are thinking of you and praying that we never have to face something like this again.

A Ray of Hope for those who were left behind
