I got 5 out of 6 (of the major awards) right, but I was truly hoping for an upset. I liked “The Kings Speech”, but it was not the best movie of the year in my mind. I think Fincher & The Social Network, should have won Director & motion picture. Alas, that was not to be. Very excited to see Natalie Portman come through and win best actress, she is stunning and was very well deserving.
So another year goes by, a year of some really great movies. Let’s hope 2011 comes through with new crop of excellent films.
I didn’t care too much for Franco & Hathaway as hosts…. I love them both, but their chemistry was …. not there and they showed their inexperience when Billy Crystal made a guest appearance… Oh how we miss the “Here’s to the nominees, big number”
Even though I didn’t get to doodle something new, during the show, I had to settle on something I did earlier for today’s doodle…
Movie Glory
Even though I have already posted my Day 607 doodle, I would be amiss if I didn’t post my Oscar Predictions and give a throw back to the Oscar doodle I did last year. I think this year will be one of not too many surprises. Even though I am going with “The Kings Speech” as best picture, I do believe the “The Social Network” was a far better movie and my all time favorite of the year is still “127 Hours” I though that was such an amazing movie, kudos to James Franco & Danny Boyles’ directing
So here goes my official pics for the 83rd Academy Awards
Best Picture – “the Kings Speech”
Best Actor – Colin Firth – The Kings Speech
Best Actree – Natalie Portman – Black Swan
Best Supporting Actor – Christian Bale – The Fighter
Best Supporting Actress – Melissa Leo – The Fighter
Best Director – David Fincher – The Social Network
Let’s see what the outcome is tonight.
in the mean time Here’s Oscar
and the OSCAR goes to . . .
The “splash ‘o color” series would not be complete without a color Mandala or two. We can’t go a week with out at least one Mandala. This one looks like the eye of a storm…. middle of a hurricane Mandala. Luckily for us the winds died down and yesterday was a really nice day. Let’s hope it stays that way, although I hear it’s gonna get cold with rain again come Monday.
Color Mandala
We had these warm high winds yesterday and last night that briefly knocked out power. Needless to say internet went down and I could not get back on all night…. So my usual midnight posting is only going up now. Better late, than missing a date.
In keeping with the color them, I did these crazy swirls, just to see where it would end up…. no real design motive in mind, just color and pattern. It does reflect my high wind day though. the small white open piece, is like that one spot in the sky, where there is not storminess…
High Winds & Storminess
In sticking with a touch of color. Here is something I did using highlighters for a change. A little change up, but then again this week has been all about changing things up. The highlighters don’t scan as well, but the effect is still there. I like how the scanned version gives the orange highlight a softer tinge. I need to experiment with these some more.

Following on from yesterday’s “Shape n Color”
This one I call “A splash o Color”
It’s so much fun trying out new things
enjoy!
- Color Splash
I have been playing around with abstract shapes and adding a little color here and there.
It’s always fun to try something different.
I’ll work on a few more of these this week.
Actually when you look closely at this, images do appear…
what do you see?

Talk about a swing in the weather…. Last Friday we were basking in near 70 degree weather (granted it was windy as all hell, so you couldn’t really appreciate that is was a nice spring like day) The weekend that followed was good and than boom…. Monday comes, temperatures drop and right now we are dealing with rain, rapidly changing to sleet and are expected to wake up to 5 – 8 inches of snow WHAT! This is not meant to be. What happened to the groundhog seeing his shadow and that promise of an early spring?
The one consolation is that it’s going to improve later in the week…. but I do not look forward to shoveling my way into work in the morning. I better get an early night.
This Doodle, reflects the Rain into Sleet into Snow…..
Rain - Sleet - Snow
I was able to keep the hourly updates going through 3:00 pm, then I had to leave. It was fun and I like how the doodles changed trough the day. Still 600 days of continuous doodles…. Thanks for all the comments and tweets that I received. It gives me such pleasure to hear from those who follow the doodles.
For today, I have one of my aliens (which I never got to post when I first included the others) So I figured why not bring him in today.
Also today, is a holiday “President’s Day” and this guy is very presidential.
