Day 518 – Hidden Red Star

November 30th, 2010 4 comments

I had seen a picture that one of my twitter followers had posted (can’t for the love of me find the original now) but it was called “the red star” and I had told Bryce (who had posted the picture) that it would lead to a doodle inspiration.  Well here is my interpretation of @abitofmybrain’s picture.  I did what I could from memory, because as I said I could not find the original.  I am sure after my tweet goes out, Bryce will re-post the original.   I do know there was a hidden red star on a wall…..

So here is my “Hidden Red Star” tribute.

Day 517 – On Hold with Comcast

November 29th, 2010 2 comments

Yesterday for a while our internet went down (gotta love that Comcast) and to add insult to injury my new bill arrived which included a huge price hike.  So I hoped on the phone to get answers.  Was I in for a surprise.  I cannot tell you how long they kept me on hold (granted it was the tail end of a holiday weekend, but they are supposed to be so proud of there 24 hr service).  The irony was that by the time I was done with them on the first of 2 calls,  my one DVR machine was not working (and I wasn’t even having Cable problems to start with).  What a mess.

As I sat on hold at my desk I just had to doodle,  and I had these white envelopes handy (you can’t really tell by the picture, but they are the white classic linen envelopes which I use for my stationery, a nice texture to work with.)  I had messed up an order so I have over one hundred and fifty printed with an incorrect address.  In most instances these would be rendered useless, but not to a doodler.  I grabbed my sharpies, and while a waited listening to the sweet voice telling me ” The next available customer service representative will be with you shortly”  I drew and drew and lo an behold came up with these 3 mini masterpieces.

These are good enough to be framed and now I know what I can do with the remaining 147 addressed envelopes…. it’s not like they’re going anywhere.

By the way,  Comcast came back on and I was able to get this posted on time….. still have not missed a day.

This was actualy the 3rd Envelope I did.

Here is Envelope #2

Good thing I had my Sharpie set handy:

And this was #3

All during 2 phone calls

with Comcast.

Day 516 – Weekend wind-down

November 28th, 2010 No comments

Long weekends, even though I worked on Friday are always great.  They break up the week.  They help mix the routine up a bit, but like it or not Monday is right around the corner and your are back to the old pattern.  So to make sure I get the most out of the long weekend, Sunday is the day to wind down.  To take it easy and relax…. Let’s see if the day pans out that way.

Sunday is also a good day to draw, doodle, paint….  Here’s what I have lined up for today.  Now I’d like to see what you can do.  Have you thought about drawing something for the world doodle challenge.  I need all the support I can get if we are ever going to reach 1,000,000.

Day 515 – Post Crazy

November 27th, 2010 2 comments

You have had your turkey, and shopped at ungodly hours.  Does that mean the holiday season is upon us.   It does seem like it its starting earlier and earlier. There are houses on some streets where the Christmas lights are already out.   Soon we’ll be hearing Carols on the radio and today I saw my first car with a freshly chopped tree strapped to the roof.  The season is here are you ready yet.   We haven’t even closed out on November and already people are getting in the holiday spirit.

Will they be burned out by Dec 25th or is this the norm now to be festive as long as possible.   Drag it out and make December a month long season of joy.   Me, I’m just not ready for that yet.

Well this dame looks like she’s the kind of soul who was out shopping at 3, 4, & 5 and probably has her presents wrapped already… She’s probably gathering tinsel for the tree as we speak.

The Crazy Shoppers are out

I think she just needs to chill.

Day 514 – Black Friday

November 26th, 2010 No comments

Black Friday, the Day after Thanksgiving.  The day the crazies come out.  The Bargain hunters are unleashed. Right now as I type this there are people lined up waiting for stores to open at 4, 5, and 6 in the morning.  Some places are even throwing their doors open at midnight and as those doors will stay open for 24 hours.  Unbelievable!

Me,  I will be cozy in bed…. There are no bargains big enough to get me out at some ungodly hour.

As for today’s doodle, I end off Bird week with the “one that got away”.  Every year a turkey is pardoned by the pres and is not sent out to be slaughtered.  I think the escapee made it all the way here.

Day 513 – Turkey Day 2010

November 25th, 2010 2 comments

Thanksgiving, a day to reflect on all that you are thankful for and all that has transpired over the past year.   I do know that I am grateful to all of you, who visit the “doodle daily” on a regular basis and enjoy the whimsical pieces of art that I put out day in and day out.   I have so much fun and enjoy what I do, because I know that you are all there enjoying along with me.

As you carve the turkey and gather with your family and friends, give a thought to those who may be alone, far away and unable to be with the ones they love on this holiday.    I want them and you to know that I am thinking of you all.

Turkey Day as part of bird week, would not be the same with out a freshly doodled Turkey. I was going to resurrect our turkey from last year, but instead I doodled up a brand new one.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all

Day 512 – A Bird in the Hand

November 24th, 2010 2 comments

We’re just one day away from Turkey Day.  So in keeping with this weeks theme, here is another bird, with a smile.   I hope you are all ready for your day of giving thanks.  I must admit, I am thankful to get a day to relax in the middle of the week.   I will have more on Thanksgiving tomorrow and we will resurrect our turkey from last year and introduce you to a new one.

Day 511 – The Chic-a-dee

November 23rd, 2010 No comments

Ok so yesterday’s little bird was not quite a Thanksgiving turkey or even a very good bird at that.  I guess I wasn’t 100% happy with him.  So during the day I doodled another little chick to add to the collection.  I had to keep in the spirit of bird week.

I do much prefer this one.  I might use him in a greeting or two.  Yesterday, I spent a lot of time in meetings, so I got several doodles done, which I can’t wait to share.  Have to get past bird week first.

In the mean time, here’s chickie #2.

The week of Thanksgiving.

A time to reflect and give thanks.

A time to unwind and get ready for the holidays

A time for football.

A time for family

A time to shop.

Turkey’s up! Ouch!

I guess this week is bird week.
