Day 475 – Georgetown Cupcake
What would a trip to Georgetown be without
a Doodled Cupcake tribute
Being the most beautiful day in DC yesterday, I decided to take the boys down to Georgetown to walk around, mingle with the crowds and have us tasty cup cake treats. I had been up really early as my wife was heading out of town to a wedding, so I had already completed a crack of dawn airport run. I was keen to get out, roll down the windows and enjoy a Fall day in the mid 70s. My boys were more into sleeping in… which was not on my agenda.
After walking around the market and streets of Georgetown , we had to give the now famous “GeorgeTown Cupcake” a try. It’s not ever day we have a celebrity eating establishment in town and with the sucess of the DC cupcakes show on TLC, GT is quite the celebrity. I was hoping to try our “Sprinkles” too, but they have yet to open, their loss.
Miraculously we pulled up to GT Cupcake as someone was pulling out of a spot right on ‘M’ street, which on a Sunday is a miracle in it’s own right. We parked and then turned the corner…. Oh my, a line fit for a Bieber concert greeted us. Immediately my boys declared, we’re leaving…. but I was able to deter them enough to get in line and wait it out.
The wait was worth it, we picked up a half dozen cupcakes that included the inevitable Chocolate and red velvet along with the “twitter special” of the day which was a most delicious “Banana Split” cup cake. If ever you are planning a trip to Georgetown cupcakes, check out their Twitter secret specials…. very worthwhile following them just for that alone.
we couldn’t wait to get home
to open these up.
