Day 427 – The Phantom

August 31st, 2010 No comments

I started this as just a one sided face, but then it evolved into what I now call “The Phantom” of the Opera that is.  Not quite what Andrew lloyd Webber had in mind for Michael Crawford, but that is exactly what came to mind as I was drawing this.

Day 426 – JaraFinna

August 30th, 2010 2 comments

I saw this painting online yesterday, that inspired me to take a different direction with my doodle drawing today.  Someone on twitter asked how long it took to draw and actually the basic outline didn’t take long at all, less than half an hour.  Then I spend time fine tuning it and here it is.  Last night I quickly posted it on twitter via twitpic, but I wanted to add it to the blog as well.

Would love to hear what you all think.

Day 425 – Challenge

August 29th, 2010 No comments

I got chatting with this incredible artist/Caricaturist Shari Warren (who’s last name, is my first name) on Twitter.  We got talking about Bravo TX and the various house wives shows.  well one thing let to another and we challenged each other to draw one of the wives.  Shari cam back with a really cool Danielle, which you can see here Shari Warren’s Danielle Drawing

Once Shari had posted heres the challenge was on and I had to get something posted this weekend.  So I also decided to take on one of the NJ Housewives.  We could pick from any of them.   I then took on Jacqueline Laurita and here it is.  I did Theresa as well, but hated the way she came out.

Here’s my housewisves of New Jesrey Doodle,  and please visit Shari’s amazing blog at shariwarren.com

Day 423 – Back Up & Post-it

August 27th, 2010 No comments

Crash Aborted!

I am back up and running and able to post on a regular schedule and keep the streak alive. We will not miss a day.  Yesterday, while I was down (at home) I was able to post a couple of twitpics of some post-it note doodles I had lying around the office.  Then I realized I had scanned a while bunch a while back, so those became the segue to today’s doodle.  It’s been a while since I did a series on post-it notes, so now is a good a time as ever.

These have always been a favorite of mine.  It’s so easy, while you are on the phone at work to grab a post-it and start scribbling.  Well those scribbles turned into doodles, which in turn found a life of their own online.

If you do a quick search for post-it on my blog, you will see the many others that I have done.  Here is today’s series.

Day 422 – Crashed!

August 26th, 2010 No comments

My computer at home is on strike! I cannot get the sucker to boot up.  He has been well behaved now for months, ever since I gave him a full frontal lobotomy and replaced the hard drive.  But just yesterday, he died and will not reboot.  I get what I call the “black screen of death”  where it tells you to reboot in Safe mode or last working configuration and you get that countdown to nothing…. well nothing is working it loops back to that screen.

What is this poor soul to do.  I live by that guy.

Anyway nuff pouting, I will hav eto call in the troops to get him to work again.  For now I can only post using twitpic (thank goodness for that)  It doesn’t look as great on the site, but click on the image and you get a really nice picture of my work.

This was something I was working on in a meeting yesterday.  It was unfinished, but at this stage of the game,  it’s about as finished as it will get.

The first of my 2 unfinished doodles from yesterday. This one is coming to you viaTwitpic

Day 421 – Paisley Returns

August 25th, 2010 No comments

Paisley has always been a favorite of my doodle designs and also some of my most popular.  What is it about paisley they people just love?  It is fun to draw and can be used in so many different ways.  This one I actually did in blue as opposed to my usual black (and then given a touch of color).

I do love the way this came out though and for all you paisley followers out there, this one is for you.

Day 420 – #draw365

August 24th, 2010 2 comments

Now that I meeting all these incredibly talented artists on twitter, I am amazed at how many people are committed to posting new drawings or doodles every day.  There is twitter “group” per se especially for 365ers.  You simply tage your posts with #draw365. So cool.  I will sometimes use #doodle too, so the doodle followers can find the goods.

If you follow me on twitter you will see many of these talented people.  It is so great to collaborate and share ideas.

To all my new followers from twitter, facebook and more, welcome to the crazy world that is “The Doodle Daily”

Here’s Tuesday’s doodle #421  I call this one “Something Cosmic” and I have no idea why.  it does tie in to a series I did a while back and I like the touch of blue that finds it’s way into the drawing.

Day 419 – In need of sleep

August 23rd, 2010 No comments

Why is it that weekends sap more energy out of you. This is meant to be your time to relax, but it does not work out that way. This past weekend was no exception. But it does give us a nice change of pace. If I don’t go sleep soon, I will be a wreck this coming week.

I have been spending a lot of time getting to know twitter this weekend. It’s amazing how many people out there have 365 projects of their own and draw and create on a daily basis. I am thoroughly enjoying meeting all these really talented people. If you are not following me on Twitter you really are missing out. So sign up and follow @thedoodledaily go to http://www.twitter.com/thedoodledaily I will be looking out for you.

Today’s doodle I loved the minute I started it. I thought of it as “when 2 worlds collide” very pretty. Now you go on and tell me what you think. Comment lines are always open.
