Day 290 – Zentangles

I recently found out that their is a name for some of the doodle art that I publish.  It’s called a “Zentangle”, because when you are drawing you enter a Zen like state and the pen takes over. A Zentangle can be any type of free stroke drawing, but most are done a 3.5 x 3.5 squares using just a black pen.

I found this all out from the Creative Social Network that I am a part of.  You can check it out at Coach Creative Space There you will find many creative people and you can visit my page http://coachcreativespace.ning.com/profile/Warren and follow or join the discussions of Doodling.

So for those who have never seen or heard of a “Zentangle” before here are a few of mine.  I have several that I will debut over the next few days.

I would love to hear your feedback.

Wow, these “Zentangles” are very impressive. I can’t wait to see more. Are you going to create greeting cards with these, I think they would be perfect. I love making my daily visit to “The Doodle Daily” there is always a surprise find for me there.

Beautiful, as always Warren. I got a little frustrated because I felt like I need to draw some different patterns on each new Zentangle. It just occurred to me as I’m looking at more of yours that it isn’t about variety in patterns really, it’s more about just going with the pattern and allowing it to take its own shape. You can make many different pictures with the same patterns. Awesome! 🙂

    Thanks Hope
The beauty of this type of drawing is that you can do anything by just letting your mind and pen take over. I have enjoyed working in the confines of the 3.5×3.5 square.

    Hi Warren
Thanks for the great feedback at my blog! I was checking yours out today… awesome stuff! Some really wonderful patterns and characters. I really admire that you’ve been able to keep producing everyday; it’s something I strive for but haven’t gotten there yet.
All the best and keep in touch
