Day 1096 – Powerless!!!
Today is the Doodle Daily’s 3rd anniversary. This should be such an exciting day and I spent the entire day with no power. We had a massive storm come through the DC area last night. It was brief, but powerful and it knocked out power to over 1 million homes. It’s now 10:30pm and we have just received power.
The event came out of no where around 10pm last night. It had been a hot day record heat of 104 degrees, but it didn’t appear to be stormy. It’s not like the sky got grey and a storm was brewing. All of a sudden, the power went out, still no signs of an actual storm. Then it got windy and then very windy and the heavens opened. In a short time the storm blew through and without electricity we just went off to bed, thinking this was just another summer thunderstorm. We had no idea of the destruction that was going on outside.
This morning we took a drive into DC and it was amazing how wide spread the damage was. Roads shut down. Trees down almost everywhere. there was debris at every turn. It was a crazy site. We went 24 hrs without power and we are lucky, because we were being told it might be a week before the power would come back on.
So as excited as I was to get my 3rd anniversary doodle up, I sure wasn’t counting on such a long delay. The most important thing is that I am still able to post this on Jun 30th and keep the daily streak going.
Here then is the daily doodle 3rd anniversary doodle:
