Day 216 – It’s Freezing

January 31st, 2010 No comments

So we got snow and not just the dusting we were told we would get.  It snowed all day nearly 6 inches of the white stuff and it was no more than 17 deg F all day, that’s  -8C to those keeping track.  It is cold cold cold.  The roads are a mess.  Got stuck on the highway where it took 1 hour to get from exit to another.  YUCK is all I can say.  Bring on Spring….. and soon.

Here’s today’s icy doodle

Day 215 – Snows a coming, again

January 30th, 2010 No comments

Here we go again.  Another storm is heading our way today.  It’s not supposed to be a big one for us (not like the Blizzard of 09) but anytime the flakes fall in DC, the city falls appart.  So we’ll see what happens, because we’re not supposed to see anything till later in the day.  It was so cold today, all I can say is bring on the spring.

So while we freeze and wit for snow…. here’s today’s doodle  This is another office doodle (not an official side line classic), but it is a classic in it’s own right.  It almost looks like spring meeting winter with snow flakes and flowers.  It’s a perfect doodle for a perfectly snowy day.

Day 214 – Paisley Classics

January 29th, 2010 No comments

Time to move on to something different. I am sure the classics will be back, because I am always finding old drawings where ever I turn.  So here are a couple more and then we will launch into the next exciting thing.  Paisley is a classic in it’s own right, so it definitely has a place here.

But first, did you notice the Social Network buttons I added to the top of the page.  Give em a click.  Show your love by “Digg”ing us or Stumbled Upon and if you haven’t yet become a fan on Facebook and follow the doodles on Twitter.  Here are details:

and become our fan (tjomies.com) on

by clicking on the above Facebook link, will take you directly to the Tjomies Fan page (where the doodles reside).

Ok, I will check back tomorrow to see who loves us.

Now back to the Doodles and the last of the classics for now.

Another oldie, but goody.

Day 213 – More Oldies

Here are a couple more of the oldies.  I like these 2, they are typical of what my note books look like on a regular basis.

Day 211 – New Classics

January 26th, 2010 No comments

So, I found these old side line doodles.  I never realized how many of these little drawings I had done over the years.  What I like about these is that they have that raw (probably never intended to be seen) look about them.  These were done years before I ever thought about publishing anything I ever drew.  But, you have to start somewhere.  Every big idea starts with a spark and I look to these doodles as my spark.   All week I will debut some of the old classics.

Enough said.  Here’s the Doodle.

Day 210 – Another week begins

January 25th, 2010 No comments

But the doodles don’t stop coming and we have to make sure we have something fresh for you every day.  So for the start of the week I have a good ole fashion doodle to share.  Then the rest of the week I have a whole new selection of office note pad doodles.  The ones I call “the classics”.  Probably not the most exciting designs, but they are the roots of where this whole project began, so they cry out to be seen.  But those will come up later in the week.

Here’s Monday’s doodle.  Maybe this one will be a classic of it’s own one day.

Day 209 – Inglourious Basterd

January 24th, 2010 No comments

I wasn’t planning on running off a celebrity doodle today.  We were watching the SAGs last night (Screen Actors Guild Awards) and when Inglourious Basterds won best ensemble (their equivilant of Best Picture), my son pleaded with me to draw, what he calls, “the chin”.  So at 1:30 in the morning there I was searching for a clear picture of Quentin to sketch.

Quenitin Tarantino, for those that don’t know, is the director of “Inglourious Bastards” (spell check is gonna have a field day with this)  It is a good movie, a bit long winded in parts.  The bar scene in particular went on and on and on, to the point that I was begging for the talking to stop and the shooting to begin.  Quenitin Tarantino is a fantastic director and a fun person too.  One of my favorite movies of all time is his classic “Pulp Fiction”

So by inreasing his Oscar stakes, he sure as heck deserved to be doodled.  (and he does have a very doddle-able face)

By the way the guild awards were no big surprises,  Sandra Bullock – best Actress (now i’m almost certain that Meryl will win the Oscar)

Jeff bridges – Best Actor, Monique – Best Sup Actress & Christoph Waltz – Best Sup Actor and I think all of these are strong Oscar winners.

That being said…. here’s Quentin Tarantino in doodle form.

Day 208 – G’night Coco

January 23rd, 2010 No comments

Not sure if you have been following the whole Conan vs. Leno Fiasco on NBC.  What a debacle,  Jay’s show fails at 10pm so they fire Conan….. Hello, where’s the logic in that.  Conan is funny, and he is fun to watch.  He’s fresh….. alas, as the host of the Tonight Show, he is no more.

I really don’t care for Jay, I do not find him funny at all,  but miraculously he gets his old gig back.  Let’s see if anyone tunes in.  Jay at 10 was a major flop,  will Jay at 11:30 be any better, when we have Letterman & Kimmel to enjoy.

Look out for Conan to make a splash on Fox in the fall.

So as a tribute to the last Conan appearance,  I though I would bring back the really awesome Conan o’brien doodle.  Along with a fresh image for today.

So long Conan…. You will be missed (but I know you will be back)

I do love the fact that you think Tilda Swinten should play you in the movie……

The Original Conan Doodle

And because I have to post a new doodle every day, here is something that hopefully will shine some light on the future of late night television.

I call this Coco - A tribute to Conan o'brien

Day 207 – From Sun to Sleet

January 22nd, 2010 No comments

Yesterday I was in a sun-shining good mood.  The day was crazy busy, but I wasn’t gonna let it get me down.  Well nature had other plans and today it’s supposed to snow, sleet and give us freezing rain.  This is never a good combination in the DC area.  Let’s see what happens as the day progresses.

No matter how awful the weather is…. the doodles will always be there to comfort you and today I decided to go green.
