Day 940 – Face Divided
Love the two sides to this Face
The face itself is scary
but the overall drawing… interesting

I was hoping to do a wrap up on the Oscar Nominations for today, but I was working late and got caught up with things at home, before I knew it, it was 12:20 am (as I type this) and I am just too fatigued to write. I have my doodle all ready to go, but just no energy for words. I should go sleep and I will in just a few…. Tennis (Australian Open Quarters) are on too and I am distracted. So I will go straight to the doodle and we’ll catch up tomorrow. Here’s a mid week Mandala.
Oscar Nominations day is always a fun day for me. We’ve already had a slew of awards shows, but the day the Oscars are announced is always met with great anticipation. One might say the nominations are predictable, but come Nominations Tuesday there is always a surprise and you wait with baited breath to see who is in and who is out, and how many nominations will be big winners receive. I will talk more about the nominations after they come out later today, but if you want to get in on the action follow along with Sasha Stone at “The Awards Daily” or The Awards Circuit
Here’s an anticipation doodle:
There is a new exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum called Annie Liebovitz: Pilgrimage which charts a new direction for one of America’s best-known living photographers. This series of Photographs showcase subjects that moved the artist as opposed to her usual carefully staged and lit portraits. Since I had never been to the Portrait Gallery and this exhibit just opened on Friday, we took ourselves downtown to enjoy the exhibition first hand.
I was pleasantly surprised. The exhibit itself is small, but there are so many delights that the Museum has to offer that soon I was lost wondering the halls of presidential portraits and numerous other famous people.
There is so much in this great city of ours that I never fully take advantage of, maybe now I’ll be making more frequent trips into the cultural heart of DC. If you want to find out more about the Annie Liebovitz exhibition take a look that American Art Museum site.
Note quite “portrait gallery” ready, here is my doodle of the day
We’re getting our first taste of real winter today….. Snow started falling overnight and even though there wasn’t mention of it being a snow event, by the time I went to be there was an inch or two on the ground. It’s supposed to turn to freezing rain and ice today, which I am not looking forward to at all…. We’ll have to see what actually comes down during the day and the as quickly as it comes…. it goes. We are supposed to be back into the 50′s by Tuesday. Crazy weather.
Here’s an icy induced doodle.
The new season of American Idol kicked off last night. Season 11, and after the mediocre X-Factor that did not live up to it’s hype, it was a welcome return to the show that started it all. This season looks likes promising, the new judges have settled in to their roles and even though it’s in it’s eleventh season, the show still has an air of freshness about it. Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.
I doodled this with Idol in mind, the innocent faces trying to make a name for themselves all of them “Idol Hopefuls”
